If you are a foreigner and entered Colombian territory by land, river or sea, local authorities require you to update your migratory status before boarding any domestic flight. Please be sure to have the immigration stamp on your passport or ‘Tarjeta Andina’ before your flight. If you have not regularized your status, please contact Migración Colombia at their offices or border control stands.

Minors

• Infants -between 10 days and 24 months-, will not occupy a seat. Must present birth certificate.
• Children (minors between 24 months plus one (1) day and 12 years) must present identity card or birth certificate. Must travel in the company of a person over sixteen (16) years of age. If they travel with an adult other than the parents or legal guardian, they must present a travel permit, which indicates the travel dates, route and name of the person accompanying the minor with a copy of the document of the person who signs.
• Adolescents (minors aged between 12 years plus 1 day and 17 years) are allowed to travel alone by presenting their document of identification.
• Adults: over 18 years of age -including foreign passengers- may travel with their ID card or passport.
• If you lose your document, you may travel with police report or the valid document of identification issued by the National Civil Registry.
• Documents must be presented in its original form, not copy allow.

Vaccines

If you are traveling to Antioquia (Dabeiba, Mutatá, Turbo y Yondó), Magdalena (Santa Marta) you have to present the carnet that certifies the yellow fever vaccination. Click to check more information

Important information for tourists traveling to San Andres

• Tourists traveling to San Andrés Island must purchase the tourist card at the service module of the boarding lounge the day of the flight. The value is $124.000 Colombian pesos and must be paid in cash. The above price may change without prior notice. All tourists must buy the tourist card, unless they stay less than 24 hours on the island or except for children under 7 years.
• A support of the hotel reservation or the address where they will stay during the visit must be submitted. All Viva clients who are not San Andres residents must buy a roundtrip ticket. Residents of the island will be able to buy single tickets.

A passenger shall be liable for verifying the information contained in the documents required for traveling. In the event of missing a flight for failing to submit the documents required by the immigration authorities, Viva shall not be held liable for any missed flight and any results from this situation.
Remember that documents required for international flights vary by country of destination, departure and nationality of each passenger. Did you know that if you are a Colombian national, you may enter Peru with your citizenship card?
Upon entering the country, the immigration authorities shall verify that the passenger:

• Has all documents required for entering the country. (Each passenger shall be liable for checking all documents required by each country, depending on the nationality).
• Has a ticket out of Peru (except citizens and residents)
• Stay in the country does not exceed 90 days, whether they are continuous or discontinuous, within a maximum period of one year; if so, the passenger should have the necessary permits.
• Demonstrates that has enough money for staying in the country.

• For travelers entering Peru it is necessary to carry a passport. This must have at least six months of validity from the entry of the person to Peru.

Venezuelan passengers traveling to Peru

According to the Delegate Commission of the Venezuelan National Assembly an agreement was approved which aims to extend the validity of the passports of Venezuelans who are inside or outside the Venezuelan territory for up to 5 years, according to the following:

• Venezuelan passports expired until August 28, 2018, for an additional five years from that date;
• Venezuelan passports expired after August 28, 2018, for five years additional from the date of expiration.

Did you know that if you are a Peruvian national or an Ecuadorian national, you may enter Colombia with your national I.D. card?
Upon entering the country, the immigration authorities shall verify that the passenger:

• Has all documents required for entering the country. (Each passenger shall be liable for checking all documents required by each country, depending on his/her nationality.)
• Has a ticket out of Colombia
• His/her stay in the country does not exceed 90 days, whether they are continuous or discontinuous, within a maximum period of one year; if so, the passenger should have the necessary permits.

• All tourists traveling to Colombia must pay the tourist tax at the airport of origin, which is about USD 15.00 and must be paid in cash at Viva service module the day of the flight. Except for flights to/from the United States.

Venezuelan passengers traveling to Colombia

The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs resolves that:

• Venezuelan nationals may enter, transit and leave Colombian territory, presenting the passport of Venezuela even when it has expired.
• The passport of Venezuelan nationals that is expired or that is about to expire, may be used to enter, transit and leave Colombian territory, during the following ten (10) years, counted from the expiration date of the passport .
• Have a ticket to leave the country.

* Having all required documents is important to avoid being inadmissible in Colombia. In accordance with Decree 1721 of December 21, 2020, issued by Migración Colombia, verify here the grounds for inadmissibility

Upon entering the country, the immigration authorities shall verify that the passenger has:

• A passport which is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country (Each passenger shall be liable for checking all documents required by each country, depending on his/her nationality. Colombians may need a Visa to enter to the United States).
• A ticket out of the United States
• For all your trips to and from the territory of the United States, your booking must contain the exact information as shown on your Passport. If the information is not the same the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) will deny access to the air service, regardless of the airline.
• The Necessary documents to enter to the United States vary by country of origin and nationality of each passenger. To view the required documents, you can access the Immigration web page of this country.

Upon entering the country, the immigration authorities will verify that:

• You have the documents required to enter the country (it is the responsibility of each passenger to verify the documents required by each country depending on their nationality). All Colombian & Peruvian travelers must carry a valid passport upon arrival in Mexico.
• You have an exit ticket from Mexican territory (unless you are a citizen or resident), either back to your country of origin or to a third country, for which you have the necessary documents to travel. You must show the ticket or proof of itinerary.
• Note: The United States has temporary limitations on land border crossings with Mexico only for "essential travel" (more info).
• Show that you have the financial solvency necessary to stay in the country, and they may ask you to verify the reason for the trip; either with hotel or tour reservations, or invitation letters from entities or institutions that guarantee entry to Mexico.
• That your maximum planned stay is not more than 180 days. If you require a longer stay, you must show the corresponding permits or visa.

You should also be very aware that:

• All Colombian passengers traveling to Mexico must fill out the electronic pre-registration form before the trip. Enter the form by clicking here
• Follow the instructions and upload the required documents on the form. Once completed, a QR code will be generated and you will receive your Multiple Migration Form (MMF) by email. Print these two documents and take them with you to present them to the migration agents upon arrival in Mexico.

Exceptions:

• Valid and current multiple-entry visa from Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, or any country that belongs to the Schengen area.
• Permanent resident card in Canada, Chile, Colombia, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Peru, or any country that belongs to the Schengen area.
